Position: Innovation and Research Specialist
Working hours: 0.5 – 1.0 full-time
Form of employment: employment contract
Salary: PLN 6,000 – 8,000 gross

Job description: A person interested in the functioning of local government and innovative methods of implementing public policy at the local level, with basic competences and experience in the following areas:

  • innovative activities/implementation of tasks undertaken by local government units,
  • ways and methods of innovatively solving problems of local communities and responding to challenges at the local level,
  • tasks and legal provisions regulating the functioning of local government units in Poland,
  • implementation of research processes – ways of conducting them and presenting results.

An important element of the tasks of the person in this position will be supporting the processes of implementing innovations in local government units and analysing the ongoing processes, as part of the "Innovations in Local Government" project co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus.

Main tasks:

  1. Collaboration in the preparation of implementation packages for micro-innovations indicated in the innovation catalogue https://innowacjewsamorzadzie.pl/katalog-innowacji/ .

  2. Collaboration with local governments and external contractors in implementing innovations.

  3. Analyzing information obtained through cooperation with social innovation incubators, local governments and external contractors,

  4. Support in the analysis of collected data and preparation of reports,

  5. Active participation in team meetings and knowledge sharing,

  6. Participation in conceptual work on theories of interventions undertaken and tested at FFW.

Requirements:

1. Education:

Completed higher education in social sciences or humanities (political science, sociology, public policy studies, public administration, European studies, psychology, law or related fields).

2. Skills:

  • good knowledge of the regulations regulating the functioning of local government units,

  • the ability to design research based on existing data and search for information in publicly available databases,

  • knowledge of methods for creating innovative social solutions,

  • knowledge of programs and projects financing the creation of social innovations,

  • good skills in using office software (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation programs).

  • good knowledge of English.

3. Experience required:

  • at least 2 years of professional experience in public administration/non-governmental organization,

  • at least 1 year of experience in: projects addressed to local government units, including training, consulting/competence-raising support, or at least 1 year of experience in innovative projects, e.g. social innovation incubator,

  • professional experience in conducting research and analysis of public policy (minimum two research projects),

  • experience in implementing research projects in local government environments or institutions organized by local governments,

  • participation in at least two projects co-financed by cohesion policy funds.

4. Subject matter knowledge:

  • Cooperation between NGOs and local government administration in Poland, including the social economy (basic legal acts, strategic documents, examples of activities),

  • The system of local government in Poland,

  • Social policy and development policy (basic legal acts, shape of systemic solutions),

  • Knowledge of the shape and basic principles of implementing European funds in Poland.

5. Soft skills:

Communication skills, teamwork skills, independence, responsibility, creativity, cognitive curiosity, good work organization, accuracy.
