Accessible school

  Completed

“Accessible School” is a project implemented by the Cooperation Fund Foundation with the support of the Regional Development Institute Foundation, under the Knowledge Education Development Operational Programme, as a pilot of the “Schools without Barriers” action and is part of the Accessibility Plus programme financed by the Ministry of Investment and Development from the European Social Fund.

The project was created for educational institutions requiring the introduction of architectural improvements and improved systemic solutions regarding the accessibility of schools for people with disabilities.

The project is scheduled for implementation in 2019-2023, all information and news will be posted on the website www.dostepnaszkola.info

The first recruitment will start in the second quarter of 2020.

The aim of the project is to create and test the “Accessible School Model”, which as an innovative solution will enable schools to identify their own limitations, both architectural and awareness-based, in terms of accessibility for people with disabilities.

___

The “Accessible School” project is implemented under Priority Axis IV Social innovation and transnational cooperation, Measure 4.1 Social innovation of the Knowledge Education Development Operational Programme 2014–2020.

Additional Information

The "Accessible School Model," developed jointly by the institutions implementing the project, will serve as a reference point for schools to plan and implement comprehensive solutions, such as training to raise awareness and competences of teachers regarding the needs of students with disabilities, activities to enhance cooperation with parents of students with special educational needs, eliminating architectural barriers, and purchasing or renting specialized equipment that meets accessibility standards.

The "Accessible School Model" will serve as the basis for evaluating projects submitted by schools. The institutions implementing the project will also conduct an accessibility audit of the submitted schools.

Through a competition, at least 30 governing bodies will be able to obtain funding for at least 60 schools to implement plans to improve accessibility and test the solutions developed.
