A press conference was held today at the Ministry of Investment and Development, during which Minister Jerzy Kwieciński signed an agreement with the Cooperation Fund Foundation and the Institute for Regional Development Foundation for the “Accessible School” project, which has been allocated PLN 50 million. The project will be implemented between 2019 and 2023.

This project is part of the pilot “Schools Without Barriers” initiative. The investment will directly support at least 60 primary schools, but equally importantly, an innovative systemic solution – the “Accessible School Model” – will be developed and tested. Schools selected in the competition will undergo comprehensive audits, resulting in accessibility improvement plans tailored to their needs and circumstances. Supported by European funds, investments and purchases will be made to improve the architectural accessibility of buildings, transportation, equipment, and teaching aids. Schools will also receive funding for activities that raise awareness and competences of teachers and school specialists. This will ensure that the concept of accessibility is introduced into Polish schools as a response to the growing number of children with special needs.

The “Accessible School” project is implemented under Priority Axis IV: Social Innovation and Transnational Cooperation, Measure 4.1: Social Innovation of the Knowledge, Education, Development Operational Programme 2014–2020.
