On August 31, a grant agreement was signed in Wieluń, initiating the process of adapting two schools to the accessibility standards included in the Accessible School Model. A grant of PLN 1,350,000 will be transferred to the County Office in Wieluń, which, as the school governing body, will allocate these funds to adapt the following schools:
Special Primary School No. 3 at the Special School Complex in Wieluń,
Special Primary School at the Special Educational and Care Center in Gromadzice.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the County Office by County Head Marek Kieler and Deputy County Head Krzysztof Dziuba. The project operators were represented by Tomasz Jegier, President of the Management Board of the Cooperation Fund Foundation.
The event was honored by the presence of Waldemar Buda, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy, which implements the Accessibility Plus program, within which the Accessible School grant competition was organized.
The Accessible School project is being implemented as a pilot project of the “School without Barriers – Accessibility Plus” program by the Cooperation Fund Foundation and the Institute for Regional Development Foundation. It was created for primary schools of all types requiring improved accessibility.
Its main focus is the Accessible School Model, which defines standards in various areas. The second task is to test it in schools. Nearly PLN 60 million has been allocated for this purpose, which will be distributed in the form of grants to school governing bodies selected through a competition.
Accessible School Model
This document was developed by accessibility experts from across Poland in consultation with the Ministry of National Education and other institutions working to promote inclusive education in Poland. The model encompasses four areas of activity:
architectural dimension
technical dimension
educational and social dimension
procedural and organizational dimension
