On June 17, 2020, the Local Policy Focus Group held a workshop entitled “Designing the Future: How to Ensure the Development of Social Innovation in Poland.” The meeting was organized as part of the international Social(i)Makers project. The workshop, “Designing the Future: How to Ensure the Development of Social Innovation in Poland,” aimed to exchange knowledge and experiences among experts in the field of supporting and implementing social innovation. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Network of Entrepreneurial Women, the “Leżę i Pracuję” Marketing Agency, the EdTechHub Ventures VC fund, the Mayor of Warsaw for Women, the NESsT Polska Foundation, the “Deaf Respect” Foundation, Ashoka Poland, the Innovation Workshop, the Łąka Foundation, TEMBO Lab, and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. The discussion was moderated by Mirella Panek-Owsiańska.

The conclusions from the discussion were used to create a Local Action Plan – a document that summarizes the opportunities for the development of social innovation in Poland, including the obstacles they face, as well as ideas for what should be changed to improve their functioning and sustainability after implementation.

Social(i)Makers is an international project implemented by partner organizations from seven Central European countries: Poland, Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, and Italy, under the Interreg Central Europe Programme. Its goal is to disseminate knowledge and tools for implementing social innovations.

As part of the project, the “Social Innovation Academy” – a comprehensive educational program on social innovation – has been launched. A repository of materials is currently available on the Skyrocket platform. The platform and its features (e.g., publishing social innovations, creating organizational profiles, and establishing international collaborations) serve to strengthen the potential of innovators and engage stakeholders from an increasingly broader circle.
