Today is a big day for the Foundation, everyone involved in the Mieszkanie Pierwsze project, and for a certain gentleman. Despite the negative sentiment surrounding the current state of affairs, we wanted to share some very positive news with you: the first participant in the Mieszkanie Pierwsze project has moved into the apartment we prepared! The project, implemented by the Cooperation Fund Foundation, The Y-Foundation, the Housing Policy Office of the Capital City of Warsaw, and the “First Apartment Poland” Foundation, remains true to the principles of the method popularized in Europe by the Finns. The basis of this method is supporting people experiencing homelessness by providing them with housing along with therapeutic support. The name of the method (and our project) stems from the belief that the first step towards a lasting return to society is ensuring decent living conditions and independence.
For the past three weeks, the project team has been almost continuously organizing, cleaning, and restoring the apartment that the first participant in the program took over today. The work continued despite external challenges and complications related to the current situation.
The “First Apartment Poland” project is a pilot project of this method of combating homelessness in Poland and aims to support 20 participants.
We invite you to view the gallery, which shows the current location and several photos of our team’s work.
The entire FFW team is keeping their fingers crossed!
